Home euthanasia
A final farewell in the peace of home
The passing of a loyal companion is one of the most difficult moments in the life of any pet owner. We believe that the last moments should not be associated with the stress of travel, foreign smells of the surgery and anxiety. Home euthanasia of a dog or cat allows your pet to pass away in an environment they love, surrounded by their family.
Why choose to have your pet euthanized at home?
Standard euthanasia of a dog at a veterinarian's office often involves unpleasant factors: stressful transport, a waiting room full of other animals, and a cold and impersonal examination room. Euthanasia of a dog at home offers a completely different approach:
-
Complete peace of mind: No traveling. Everything happens in the peace of your living room or garden.
-
Individual time: We are not in a hurry. You have as much time to say goodbye as you need.
-
No stress for others: If you have other animals at home, they can be there and understand more easily that their friend is gone.

When is the time? Reasons for euthanasia
Deciding when the time is right is extremely difficult. The most common reasons for euthanizing a dog or cat (or other pet) include incurable diseases associated with pain, failure of vital functions, or a significant loss of quality of life, when the animal stops eating and loses interest in its surroundings. Our doctors are ready to consult with you about your health condition, help you find an answer, and possibly undertake euthanasia at home.
Euthanizing a dog or cat: Procedure and course
Many clients ask what the procedure is for euthanizing a dog. Our goal is for the animal to know nothing.
-
Sedation: First, we administer a sedative injection, after which the pet's euthanasia at home begins with a deep sleep. The pet stops perceiving pain and stress.
-
Euthanasia itself: Only when the animal is fast asleep will the doctor administer a second substance that stops the heart. The whole process is painless and quick.
🚑 What if I want to remove the remains of the animal after euthanasia?
After euthanizing your pet, you must decide what to do with the remains. Sonda.cz provides dignified transportation and subsequent services through third parties (crematorium or rendering plant):
1) 🔥 Animal cremation (you will receive the ashes back in an urn)
Cremation is the most sensitive way to say goodbye. We will take your pet to an animal crematorium, which works the same as for humans. After cremation, you will receive an urn with your friend's ashes, including a registration plate that accompanies the animal from its handover to the cremation itself and then to the urn, and if interested, a short video is also provided free of charge as proof that the animal was actually cremated on its own. It is a way to preserve a lasting memory of your best friend. There are many urns available in various designs. Precisely because each animal is cremated individually in the crematorium, the price of cremation is approximately 2.5 times higher than that of disposing of the remains in the rendering plant (see below).

2) 🏭 Sanitation (mass disposal of animal remains according to the Veterinary Act)
Rendering is a legally prescribed hygienic method of harmlessly disposing of animal waste (today referred to as Animal By-Products - ABP) through a rendering plant. It is therefore not an act of reverence, as is the case with cremation, but a mass disposal of the bodies of dead animals.
This is a more economical option for disposing of animal carcasses (approximately 2.5 times cheaper than cremation), but it is not possible to recover the animal's ashes since the remains of animals are disposed of altogether.
